I picked these up yesterday sold as Lyretail. The coloring though doesn't seem to jive with pictures online. They look more like Ignitus to me. Thoughts?

Yeah, so what is it?

I honestly don't know cuz of the purple color, which could be just an optical illusion from bluish lights. It could be an ignitus or carrberryi anthers. Do you have a picture of them just under normal white lights?-

I can try to get more pics. That purple is not an illusion though. The very tips of their dorsal fins are indeed purple.

Purple edge to the dorsal fin is quite common in these fishes. After taking a closer look, they're probably carberryi. How big are they? C stay on the small side. Relatively easy to keep.

They are about 3" I'd say.

I picked up 15 from the same source as well, they are cooperi which last I checked was a synonym with kashiwae. I can't wait till the group gets out of Q

Nice! Not knowing what they were was a bit of a gamble but when they were selling them 5 for 50 bucks it was hard to pass up! I'm just worried that all of mine are males, whatever they are

Right on. So now how do you tell male from female with the Cooperi? Not a lot of info online about these guys...

IIRC males get a small vertical red bar on their flank, and more of a silver face. Don't quote me, I'm too lazy to Google it... :) But I'm pretty sure.

My largest is just barely starting to show the red bar, there were only a few that were submales in the whole group at the store, no full males that I saw. Once they get out of Q I will get a picture of the group. Like you said Sus the deal was so good I couldn't pass it up. First time I have ever bought 15 of any saltwater fish.

Well that's promising! I was worried I had all males but none of them are showing any red bar yet!
15 of them in a tank is going to pretty awesome man!
