Anthias suggestions

Tank specs:

120g (48x24x24) 90% SPS with total volume including sump ~175gallons

Current livestock:
1 yellow tang (large)
1 starry blenny
1 Potter's dwarf angel
1 Black-Axil chromis
1 green chromis
2 Fairy Wrasses

Would like to add Lyretail (LFS calls them "spot fin") anthias. Thinking of one male and 2 females. LFS has had them 4 days. Would like suggestions/additional information/recommendations on this -

1. OK to add?
2. Should I just get 3 females and let one change?
3. Should I get more than 3?
4. I have a 20L QT set up to receive them. Were eating mysis 2 days ago at LFS and was going to pick up tomorrow and QT until they are eating flake and pellets since I can not be home to feed them throughout the day after the Thanksgiving holida (will use Autofeeder for other feedings).
5. How frequent do you recommend feeding and what flake/pellet?

They had a good selection of Dispar Anthias but none were eating 2 days ago.

I think you will be fine adding these to your tank. I would get two females and a male. The problem with Anthias is that they should really be fed 3 times a day. Being that you have an SPS tank that is introducing a lot of nutrients into the water. Its easy to say i will just feed three small meals a day instead of one big one but it doesn't always work that way. Good luck!

Is this a problem? How should I treat it? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1448725139.016264.jpg

Matt:

Thanks for the info but both went rapidly down hill and died. The third seems to be fine. What is uronema? What is CP? Do you think I should treat the one that is still alive and doing well? Their transport water had a spG of 1.020 and my tank spG was 1.025. Do you think this participated their demise? I drip acclimated for 6 hours... Is this something that my LFS should have warned me about ? Should I try to get store credit or was this totally my fault?

It is good you had a QT. Uronema is a quick killing parasite that is almost impossible to get rid of and IMO is responsible for a lot of tank wipeouts that push folks out of the hobby, even though most folks don't know about it.

Typically formalin dips are recommended for saving fish that have been exposed, but are not yet infected. Uronema will not die off during a fallow period, so you need to bleach your qt.

"transport water had a spG of 1.020 and my tank spG was 1.025"

You should try to match SGs in the QT while floating for temp matching, then release fish into QT w/ same SG as it came. +/- 0.001 is OK, but 0.005 is a shocking difference. Dripping 6hrs is too stressing as well, fish should be in tank in <30min. Uronema is a nasty protozoan, http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/disease/uronemamarinum.php

I wish I would have read your post sooner. It seems like ALOT of the Anthias (especially those from LA) have been infected with Uronema lately. Luckily you quarantined your fish. I lost 3 Anthias 2 months ago that had Uronema which were bought from LA.
