so im lookin to oreder some lyretail anthias and was wonder if its safe to get 5 femals and hope one turns male? or is it safer to get say 4 femals and 1 male? any help would be awesome,
i was reading just now that if you have multiple femals the largest one will morph into a male to take over basicly.so really you "could" get 4 or 5 femals and 1 of them will turn male.
still confused...lol seems like in this hobby there is always more than just 1 answer for a single question.
thanks footballdude still prob safe to get a male anyways so they dont kill one another.
I have a few lyretail anthias in my tank; I;ve found that the largest one usually turns male if there are only females present (at least more aggressive towards the other anthias as there's no other way to differentiate) so you don't really need a male.
If you do get a male, try to get them all the females the same size as usually a pecking order will be established between the females and the smallest one gets picked on the most and ends up being outcast.
