I need to dig through FAMA archives to find an interesting article I recall from the 80's of a European aquarist (Netherlands, maybe?) that did this. An entire reef suspended from a large wood beam overhead. Quite fascinating

In the meantime, I need to scan some images of stalagtites that I made of reef rock which hung from the ceiling into a wild moray eel display

My travel/lecture schedule is slowing down and I hope to get to this soon. E-mail me personally in a few weeks if you don't hear from me first.

Perhaps another aquarist recalls the FAMA article/issue and can help us before them... else we excavate!
