Any advice for a reefer on crutches

Last Sunday I was playing volleyball with my students. My 50 year old body couldn't keep up with those much younger. Went to jump for a block, contracted my calf muscle, and POP. Completely tore my Achilles tendon. Had surgery yesterday and will be in a hard cast with crutches for 6 weeks then another 6 to 8 weeks in a boot And another 10+ weeks of recovery.

I will be forced to cut back on the time I devote to my tank. I can get my wife to do a lot of little things. Any suggestions where I can cut back?

If it is anything like what I felt after my ACL surgery. After surgery I felt like I might as well have been paralyzed, but the good news is it will subside quickly. Get high quality crutches and padding, those things are murder on your arms, and climbing gloves help too. If they drilled bone swelling won't start right away, it's a surprise around 4-7 days later. If you have to climb to do maintenance build a nice platform, and if you want to move a bucket of water get one with wheels from the hardware store or usplastics.

Hey Dave sorry to hear about your injury! If you need anything shoot me a message. I would be glad to give you a hand with your tank while your laid up.

My advice would be as follows!(a few have already said it). Please do not hesitate to ask a fellow reefer for a hand in a few things. We all want everyone to succeed with their system. Even if they are a bit handicapped. Hope the healing goes well and quickly!
