Any clam safe starfish?

I know that many sea stars are natural predators of clams. Are there any stars that are clam safe? I would like to get a star if I can be sure it will behave itself. Does anyone know of a species that will work? Or is this a pursuit best left unexplored?

I have both Serpent starfish (Ophiomyxa species ) and Brittle starfish (Ophiothrix species) with no problems in a reef tank with clams for a couple of years. Neither of these types of starfish feed upon clams.

Will they eat fish?

They will definitely eat any fish that dies and therefore they sometimes get blamed for eating fish. That is a bum rap though. There is plenty of talk that the green serpent starfish (particularly a large one) will eat live fish. I have no experience on that one - I avoid buying the green ones.

Cool, I love stars - the brittle stars are kind of creepy looking - in a cool way though(like xenia is creepy) - and wanted to try to put a few in - I knew some were natural clam eaters so wanted to make sure,

They would be fine with fish as well, the ones i would really be careful with are large brittle stars and other starfish that are predatory, what i do once a week is drop in a couple of pieces of silversides to feed the hermits and the stars eat the rest.
