It's what I'm using on a 165. It's throttled a little, maybe 20% and there's a slight hum but no where near unbearable. I wonder if I used a bit of vinyl tubing instead of 100% hard plumbing if it would've helped.
So I would need to throttle it back maybe 50% wonder if it is s as bad for pump as it sounds? Flow gal should have a sp3, was hoping for a 800-900 gph range
If you are worried about sound maybe try a DC controllable pump. I went with one of the cheapy Jabao chines pumps almost 2 years ago and have never had a issue.
I still have my old Ehiem 1262 as a back up just in case. Mixes and warms my water at the same time in a 44 gal brute real well, lol
As much crap that people talk about the Jabao's pumps, I bought 3 DC12000 (2 for back up) plus the replacement shafts and ran it on my tank for 3 years with no problem. when I took my tank down it was still running beautifully.
I have heard and read many horror stories about them but I've yet to experience it.
Tang, what are dimensions of pump, only conerned with how wide its is, seen 4.5" to 7" and 9" posted in spec sheets on web. Return area is only 6.5" wide
