I'm thinking about modding my mce600 by adding an emergency output pipe.
I don't have a sump or anything else external to the tank except for the skimmer and today I thought it would be a neat idea to have a filter bag on the output from the skimmer. I'd previously had microbubble problems which this has solved and the amount of crud it's removed has been surprising, aswell as giving a great way to have some carbon/phos remover in high flow.
I'm aware that this can restrict the flow of water leaving the skimmer and could eventually lead to a flood if the bag is not replaced regularly enough, so I thought I could cut a hole about the original one, and attach a bit of pipe back towards the tank (not going underwater ofcourse). A picture of what I mean:
Ofcourse the idea would be that this output would never see water, but would just add some insurance.
Is this anything I've overlooked?
Thanks,
Jeff.
