Are you using Internet Explorer? When you save - try saving it to your desktop - here's an icon on the left of the "Save" dialogue box. That way it will be easy to find it - just look on the desktop once your download completes, then double click the icon.

iPhoto does a really nice job of resizing.

Google has a software called Picasa. Its free and is a pretty neat tool for organizing, simple editing, resizing, and viewing photos. It also supports RAW format.

if you run Windows XP there is a free powertool for resizing pics. You simply right click and the option appears and it gives you various choices and a custom mode.
