Can someone identify what this species is?

It is Black and White Striped Clam. Got any info on it?

darrin-It's hard to tell from that pic.Can you get a better shot?I almost looks like a Hippopous. It also looks like a unique pattern.

Seriously though, you may want to prune back those zoanthids anyway because it is pretty certain they'll overgrow your clam's shell fairly rapidly...my experience with that happening wasn't a happy one, so I don't recommend allowing it.

You'll have a much greater shot at identification here if you can possibly get a better picture. It looks like an interesting clam from what I can see....but then again, I've never met a clam I didn't like! :D

Actually, they're Colony Polyps and they're pretty good about growing anywhere, but I have yet to see them smother anything.

I will get a closer pic today...

is pretty hard for zoos to overgrow a clam being that they woudl not be able to attche on to the mantle.

As much as I tried, I cannot get a better shot. It is a such a poor angle.

I tried top-down with all of the pumps off - no go.

I tried a wider angle in the front - no go.

Sorry, I'll have to go with - it's a clam or maybe an oyster...

True, but my experience was that I allowed the zoos to overgrow the clam's shell. At the point where the zoos were right under the mantle, the clam appeared to be irritated by them and no longer extended its mantle fully. The clam was attached to a large rock I couldn't take out and attempting to scrape the zoos off in the position I had to work with was very difficult. I'm pretty determined to never let that happen again!

My apologies for misidentifying the polyps as zoanthids.

Nothing to be apologetic about... it is hard to tell from the picture.
