Any idea what could do this?

I've had this LT plate coral for about 2 weeks with no issue. Yesterday when I got home from work I saw this ...

any idea what would do this?

what is right next to it? looks like another coral got a hold of it, is there anythign in the area that can touch it with sweepers?

no, there is nothing nearby for exactly that reason. It looks like a wedge has been taken out of the hard coral structure. Either something took a chunk out of it or split it, if that's even possible ...?

It's not a cut, there is a good 1/4" of material missing, in the shape of a wedge. I'm 99.9% sure the coral was intact when I got it since I remember looking at its underside while it was in the bag and it looked fine ....

i just to have a big crap in my tank that did stuff like that.

he broke a scoly in two peaces :angryfire:

I don't add craps to my tank for just that reason, well that and crap isn't pretty. :)

But yeah I was thinking the only thing that could do that was a crab.

Does the skeleton looked crushed through like a large crab did it or person with scissors? or is the skeleton mended together?

I've found Heliofungia very difficult to keep alive for any long period of time in several different tanks, though maybe its just me. Feed it.

It looks like a slice was taken out of the skeleton .... The tank was started with base rock and no live rock has every been added so I'm not sure how a hitchhiker would get in the system ...?

hmmmm .... appreciate the perspective as I have another LTP which has been in my tank for months and doing well. I'll be sure to be extra careful & stay away from it .
