Not sure what it is. It looks like a fuzzy cocoon with white whisker/spines coming out the top.

It looks to me like a pineapple sponge. Harmless filter feeder

there is tons of them, I am finding them everywhere. So they are harmless? Do they add any benefit?

I don't know if they're of great benefit but they won't hurt anything. My sump is loaded with them.

They help keep your water ph in check. They add oxygen to your water, granted it is probably a very minut amount but they are good in your aquarium.

Cool, I just wasn't sure. I am already fighting glass anemones so I didn't want to add another problem.
