Any largies with surges

Just wondering how they are performing for you and if they "punch" across the tank to your satisfaction. How large is your surge container? what size pipe? and how much GPH into it?

I'm need to go 9'.

Is there anyone else whose tried surges on large tanks?

I'm hoping to do a surge differently than the one in the link. I don't want a huge long-lasting surge. I was hoping to have several smaller containers that would fire a couple times a minute. I'm hoping this will give a randomized swaying effect.
