Any LFS with Yellow clown/coral gobies?

I never seem to be able to find these guys. Does anyone know of any local stores that sell them? The little yellow clown gobies? (or yellow coral gobies). I saw one (not for sale) at the old Nippon store and they told me it was a "gumdrop gobie", which it isn't.

??

Thanks!

most of the petcos up in the sac area carry them...go to one of your lfs and ask them to order you one...they're mighty inexpensive-- at petco they're around 6-9bucks.

i think i saw some at amazon fishstore in alameda on park.. same price as what yoshiod9 said if i remember correctly, around $6-9.. but i saw them a few weeks ago so not sure if they are still there..

Do you mean this yellow clown goby?

If so, I see them referred to as yellow gumdrop gobies as well - I've seen them at Aquarium Concepts in Hayward, and Aquatic Variations in Mountain View usually gets one or two in a week.

If you mean this one:

I think I've seen them at Atlantis Aquarium before.

All About Fish in Pleasant Hill has a bunch of yellow clown gobies, which is the first one in the picture above.

I got one from them, it died a week later. I do think it was because my tank wasn't finished cycling and my test kits were too crappy.

Anyway, if you ask them to hold onto one for you (yes kind of overkill for a $7 fish) in one of their tanks and see if it's eating then that would be good, because it's a pain to get them to eat.

They also eat very small things, so little brine and mysis would be needed. Maybe even cyclopeez. I might try to keep another in the near future.

goodluck!

I put one in our 46 display reef and I regret ever putting that little b*s***d in that tank! He rolls around the Acros and flat out killed all the Montiporas in the tank by always nesting and clearing away the polyps to make a nest. You cant really catch these monsters that well either, so think good and hard about putting this fish in your tank. Especially if you have SPS. Others have had better success with them, but this has been my experience.

yeah, one of my friends had a clown goby that rubbed the tissue off one spot he seemed to really like in the middle of a big acro.. once it had a nest didn't seem to bother anything else much and the nested acro survived.. but my friend was kinda ****ed off about it anyway at first..

I had one in my nano, and he always perched on my zoos, leather, shrooms, everything. I actually had no trouble getting mine to eat (was a little pig), although the guy at the LFS said he's never seen them eat in the store.

mine disapeared and i havn't been happier. i noticed he was gone by the great polyp extention on my sps's. the little bugger was always nipping at my sps's. worst 7 bucks i spent, really do think this fish through.

Hmmm....sounds like it's a trouble maker! No wonder it's 7 bucks!

Thanks for pointing that stuff out! I think I'll reconsider it...
