Any local reefers out here?

I am really interested in meeting some local people who love the hobby. I don't have much for trade or anything. Just really started about a year ago.

Just seeing if anyone has any interest in getting this club going again? I read back and looks like it hasn't been active in a while.

We just moved to Thief River Falls, MN and I plan to set up my system again, but this time, maybe not so in depth. Running SPS can cost some big bucks to set up and maintain.

Pink pulsing Xenia could be Silver Stalk Xenia or I think it's called Flower Pot Xenia. I had both kinds and they have already slipped my mind!!??? I'll see if I can find a picture or two.

Then there is Kenya Tree!! Have you guys heard of it?? You can't kill it and it grows like a weed with little to no light. See here:

grows like a weed huh? so basicaly just like xenia. its a very pretty and interesting coral but annoying sometimes, like when it grows over a frag of aog palys

Hi my reefer friends call me Icereefer, I'm up here in Grand forks ND, I'm and old school softie but I'm just starting to convert over to SPS's, talked to Mr James a bit and would like to see more in this area get involved lets' see if we can get our own club going.
I'm a native of Calif and been in SW since the mid 70's

Went searching tonight to see if there was anything as a MASNA club anywhere in this area and found this post.

I personally am interested in seeing if we can get something going again, share information, etc. I am restarting my tanks and don't have any frags, but will be to the point soon where I will be adding some..

At least if we are all starting out new, we can share sources of where there are any good internet deals.

great good ..... if you know of any others have them post in here and lets see if we can get something rolling here.

Unfortunately most of my contacts are in Bismarck as that is where I originate.

I however am personally interested in joining and getting something going.

I probably am the "newbie" of the group as my real experience was fresh, and then decided to do a small salt when I moved to fargo.

Great Pets wasn't even built at the time, had no clue about K9 and took what info I could from PetCo people. Wasn't impressed let me tell ya..

Since then I have lost a tank, because I was told things like.. "Sure you can put a Niger Trigger in a 29 long", Apastia isn't bad in a tank that you have polyps etc..

Then I started over after almost a years worth of researching etc. I've done tons of reading on the net etc and just started a 75 gallon in the last two months, but it is slow going just simply due to the fact of the cost factors involved..

I am however still working on trying to get my Nitrates down to an acceptable reef level before I attempt to put anything reefy into the tank.. (can't seem to break that 5 ppm barrier)..

Hi guys

My name is Vishnu. I am from Grand Forks, North Dakota. I go to school here and have a 20 gal H and am building my 75 gal LPS tank. You can see my thread here: Moonyguy's 75 Gallon Thread
I live about 10 mins from Icereefer and have been fortunate to have a lot of frags from him. If any needs help or want frags feel free to drop a PM. If you are in Grand Forks area feel free to drop by my place to talk about reefs.

Well hey Vishnu!! I'd welcome you, but you've lived in the area longer than me. I'd love to see your set up the next time I am over there in Grand Forks!!

I like you transition from the 20H to the 75g. I did the exact same transition a few years ago. Then went on to a 120g and then on to a 180g. Now I am starting over with a 40g. Hey, I wanna ask you about your skimmer some time!! I am thinking of the same skimmer, or a similar NW type.

Hello Mr James,

You are most welcome to come and see my tanks. My Coralife Super Skimmer is pretty good for what I paid for it. If you can keep it in sump then it works much nicer than have it as Hang on Back. In fact I am planning upgrade my 20 gal very soon so if you want my CSS65 let me know. Send me a PM if you have more questions.

clear skies
Vishnu

Ahh. Yes. Thats what is on my 75 gal. It works good for what I have. If I had more money I would have gone for the 9010. My buddy Shawn has it on his 75 and it skims really nicely. I dont get much skimmate because I dont have any fish.

hey moonguy when do u think u will be ready to get rid of the super skimmer? i might be interested if the price i right
