Any mixed tanks? (1/2 sps and 1/2 softie)

I have the room in a new house to build a peninsula style tank. I am thinking about having a wide tank separated somewhat by a reef wall and having sps on one side and soft/lps on the other. Has anybody done something like this? Any threads or pics would be helpful.

I am going to post this in a couple more forums I'm still thinking about pursuing the idea but would like to get some feed back.

Basically I am thinking about something at least 36 in wide and having a "reef wall" running down the center rising to the top of the water column to essentially separate one side from the other. One end would be short as to allow flow, fish etc to get around both sides but it would be enough of a division I think to have different species on each side. I know that water parameters or rather quality requirements are different but whatever I can grow softy wise in sps water would be fine with me and flow could be tailored to each side. I want to have both in one tank but I don't want to deal with direct interaction between sps and other types of coral.

Am I crazy! :crazy1:

My 180 is set up as a peninsula. I run 2 6' VHO's and 1 175W 14K MH in the center. This allows me to grow SPS in the middle third and softies/deeper water species on the ends. Because of the VHO's stretching the whole length and the 14K MH, I don't get too much of a perceived difference in light brightness or color. As for lamps, I bounce around between a 454/75.25 or Actinic/454 combination, depending on my mood. The 14k MH is a constant.

As for species selection, you may steer away from toadstools and lobophyton (devil's hand) because these IME secrete more toxins. I've grown finger leathers to huge colonies without hurting the SPS.
