When is our next stated meeting? I want to make sure to have this done by then.

If you want we could do it as a commitee and have a person from every area assist with recrutment.....just a thought

I would think that would be a good way to get it started for sure.

Matt for sec treas. what about trustees?

I'm going to bow out this time around.

I'd love to help out and if anyone needs any help with anything please feel free to ask, but with my kid on the way and some other things I will probably have going on this next spring with work I'm not sure on how much time I'll have to commit to this. I appreciate the nomination but at this time I don't think I'd make the best person for the job at hand.

We can't ammend any by laws without having all of this:

Section 1 All proposed amendments to the By-laws must be in writing and must list the Article and Section that is to be amended. All proposed amendments must be signed by three (3) active members and presented to the Board of Directors for consideration. If approved by the Board of Directors, the proposed amendment shall be submitted for a general vote.

Section 2 A two-thirds (2/3) majority of voting members present shall be required to pass these changes at a General Meeting.

Section 3 All proposed changes will be published in the legal paper of the Club previous to the meeting at which action is to be taken.

If we're going to start following the bylaws then maybe we should follow all of these as well:

Section 3 Elections shall take place in the month of November of the election year. The newly elected officers shall assume office on January 1st of the next year. Nominations for officers shall take place in the month of October of the election year. At this meeting the President or Chairperson will ascertain from the Secretary and Treasurer that all those nominated are qualified to run for office in accordance with the bylaws of this organization.

Section 4 Only members in good standing who have attended at least 4 (four) meetings in the current calendar year are legible for office.

THIS WOULD LEAVE ABOUT 2 MEMBERS ELIGIBLE FOR OFFICE

Section 5 Only members in good standing are entitled to vote at the annual elections as stated under the bylaws of this organization.

Committees

Section 1 The Board of Directors shall establish (upon the approval of the President) all Committees required to conduct the business of the club.

Section 2 All Committees shall perform the duties assigned to them. No member shall be compelled to serve upon more than one Committee at the same time. Any member of the Committee failing to perform his/her duties may be removed from such Committee by the President.

Section 3 Remuneration, if any, shall be decided by the Board of Directors at the time the members of the Committee are selected. All Committees shall be paid upon presentation of bills.

SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THE BOD CAN SETUP A COMMITTEE FOR RECRUITMENT WITHOUT ALL THE OTHER STUFF

I figure we have to follow those rules when dealing with adding or subtracting positions on the board, since a position of recrutment officer wanted to be added I figured it should stay to the books. If elections taking place a few weeks early bugs anyone we can hold off, I just figured we could get it out of the way so planning for 08 could start, The election dates have always been all over the place, I can remember voted in the spring one year. This wasn't in your post but I remember reading it, the trustees are "suppose" to be choosen by the president, for the last couple years we've just let people volunteer and voted on it, this year we will have to see how things go, after loosing pretty much all but one trustee last year the new president can choose whatever he/she likes.

Yeah I suppose if we're going to make one person an actual elected BOD position i suppose we should probably do it that way.

I'm not really too picky about when we do the nominating and electing I just want to make sure everyone gets enough time in to get who they want nominated and also they will know when the voting will be.

Plus I think it's fun copying and pasting the bylaws! It's the first time I've ever seen them in the 2 years I've been a member! :D

I think we might need to stop the elections until we can figure out a better way to run them. As has been expressed by a few people, it is very easy to manipulate the polls on RC. I found a website that will allow a user to set up polls. You enter the email address of all people who should be voting and it sends them a registration number to use to log in to vote. After the election is over it can display the results.

I like the idea of doing the elections electronically, as it allows more members to participate in the vote. Even if we wait till a meeting I think that members should be allowed to vote by proxy.

The site that I am looking at is www.ballotbin.com I set up an account with them to see how it works, and it looks really good.

Sounds fine to me, that sight looks good. I'm guessing it would be a good idea to have someone not running set this up and run the election process, Allen volunteered in another thread if he works for everyone lets get this going so it can be done.

Allen is an ideal person for this.

Thanks for taking on the challenge Allen.
