any of these fish bad for shrimp

EVERYTHING in tank (besides a few coral)
I got 2 Lyretail Anthias
1 Fridmani - Aquacultured
1 Royal Gramma
1 Shrimpgoby - Pink & Blue
1 blue damsel
bunch of hermit crabs
turbo snails
Nassarius Snail
3 emerald crab
10 astal snails

now I had a cleaner shrimp and added
pistol shrimp last week....

My pistol did well about 4 days or so and then I notice somthing going on and saw a emerald crab eatting my pistol shrimp...... with other fish around him trying to pick....... now since I added my newer fish weeks back my cleaner shrimp be alot shyer..... but I could alway see his little wiskers sticking out....this morning I sawe what I thought was his skin.... I thought he molted again done this few times he been here but I cant find him so it must have been him.... instead of molt.......
the damsel been in there with crabs and sails for months and all been good. I added thing in bold about 8 days ago and now in week I lost both shrimp.... I thought my shrimp would be safe I been careful what I added to try and make sure its not a hazard to coral or shrimp or anything help please I want to add my shrimp back but I need to know whats going on.... any ideas please
 
How big is the gramma - if the pistol shrimp was not established with the goby, he may well have done this... If your cleaner was very small he maybe killed him, too.

Don't know much about them, but hungry hermit crabs can be pretty aggressive
 
this is messed up.... my dottie back is about 1 and 1/2 inches...... while my goby is 4 inches maybe alittle more.... I think its got to be the goby or dotty or royal..... but royal doesnt go out much........ and dotty roams around but seems not to bother things....but the goby when I got it.... I ordered it off the net... and felt he was alittle big with my tank being 55 gallons and being 4 inches..... but I didnt know he would kill shrimp whole reason I got him and pistol was I heard these grerat rumors..... but now both my shrimp gone I am upset..... and got to find who did it......
 
How sure are you that you dont have a mantis shrimp or some other predatory crab. Do you have a lot of live rock in this tank? The fish you mention aren't likely shrimp predators but nothing is impossible.
 
I keep close eye on tank its been running about 4 months .... and I know everything I put in....... and not ever seen anything that I didnt know .... I sit all day wacthing it..... I have about 60 punds of live rock....
 
all my levels are normal I check them 2 times a week..... my cleaner shrimp been healty he was growing.... had molted many times being in there........
 
A couple of wild guesses:

Grammas come from the carribean/ western hemisphere seas maybe your shrimps are no hard wired to fear them wandered too close to where he hangs out?

You mentioned the lysmata molted many times...seems like I read that high iodine can cause shrimp to molt too often resulting in early death (?)

What kind of shrimp goby gets 4 in. long, btw?

I've had my Royal Gramma and the same Pink Spotted Shrimp Goby with cleaner shrimp, no problems. Only the Pink Spotted in a pretty aggressive goby, especially with other shrimp gobys. I lost 2 after adding him.

Is it possible that the Emerald Crab killed it? I don't believe they're known for it, but anything's possible. I had a tiny Arrow Crab, catch and kill my 1st Cleaner Shrimp. It only took a day after the cleaner was added.

The fish really don't seam to be shrimp eaters.
 
Pseudo would be my guess.

A quote from Liveaquaria, on the Fridmani Pseudochromis-
"It will prey on pests such as small mantis shrimp and bristleworms, making this fish ideal for the reef aquarium."

If it eats Mantis, I definatley wouldn't trust it with shrimp.

Well after quite a while searching tank and wacthing everything my cleaner shrimp has showed up but he will not come out and show himself there is somthing scaring him.... he used to be out all the time wanting to clean the fish.... now he stays hidden..... but I dont know who he is scared of...... I dont have another tank at the present time but I plan on starting a nana cube soon as I can afford it.... then one I plan on moving the dotty back to there see if its him.... its either him or the goby I think...... the Anth dont bother anything and the royal gramma doesnt come out much either..... well thanks for all the help. I did lose my pistol shrimp to somone but least the cleaner is ok.... I just miss him being out and about......
 
Hey Tommie - just wanted to say that my cleaner shrimp moves his station from time to time. Sometimes it's in the front of the tank and other times it's in the back. In his case there is no predator issue.

The reason I posted that the gramma could be the culprit is because in S. Michael's book on dottybacks,grammas, etc. he states that they can be a threat to smaller shrimps.

To me it seems possible that your pistol shrimp was just not healthy to begin with.
Did he ever pair up with the shrimp goby? The shrimp goby should be buddies with a pistol shrimp & not kill him. The only reason I can think of that a shrimp goby would kill a pistol shrimp would be if the pistol was a noncommensal type? Or your shrimp goby doesn't pair with that type of pistol & it's killed it for reasons of competition with other species of shrimp gobies??? Once the shrimp has paired up with the goby, the goby would keep it safe from any predator provided your sand bed is deep enough for the shrimp to dig a burrow.

Anyway do you know what kind of pistol shrimp it was? Sorry I'm way off base here -- I'm not familiar with your shrimp goby at all.
 
I have a cleaner in with my niger... as well as three peppermint shrimp. My niger is probably somewhere around 3-4" and many times throughout the day will pull up to the rocks and let the peppermints and skunk cleaner peck at him. He loves it.... he's never shown any type of agression toward my shrimp. He does however pick up my blue and red legged hermits and swims around with them in his mouth. He hasnt hurt them yet... but he definitely likes to relocate them!
