Any one ever use justliverock dot com? They seem to infer they are better then TBS and they are sure cheaper. I am looking at starting a larger tank from scratch and am looking for a good bulk deal. Any other good places?

Never heard of them. I've heard TBS is good. A long while ago I obtained rock from Gulf View and it was the livest rock I've seen to this day, so you might check them out, too. (warning, along with myriad life forms, the rock came with a mantis; suggest a quick FW dip for any rock you obtain from the gulf.)

If you're interested in trying some dry rock to fill some of the tank in, I highly suggest checking out Caribsea's "primo reef rock". This is the nicest, most interesting shaped holey rock I have ever put in my tank. I will try to snap some shots tomorrow... I don't have any of the primo left over, but I do have some South Seas Base rock that I didn't end up using that I'd let go for cheap if you need some filler.

Finger Lakes Live Rock? I know I have been gone a while, but what is this? I see an online site, is there a brick store?

GL,
-A - Thanks, I may take you up on that. When is someone going to open a reef store in the commons? Man, would I be in trouble. :)

Instead of a freshwater dip use club soda the saturated carbon dioxide in the club soda will chase the critters/hitchikers out tuit suite then you can scoop them up and deal with them appropriately..
You can use the LR without concern.. The residual Club soda on the rock wont hurt any macro algae or coral and dissolves harmlessly in the tank water, actually adding CO2 to your tank..although small amounts

Like I'm not broke enough without a reef store on the Commons, :spin2:

Last I knew FLLR just got things from there wholesaler picked up at the airport and shipped it out so no store front. My cousin made the mistake, IMO, of getting started with FLLR. The rock was tonga branch with some nice large pieces but all the pieces were covered in dead algae and the box smelled like death nasty. had to re cure the rock as well as scrub it to use it.
here is a thread about FLLR from URS http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1782241&highlight=finger+lakes+live+rock

IMO I would suggest to put the most of your funds toward your rock to get the best possible. Bad rock, dry rock or young LR does not give you a good base to start the aquarium off with. Starting with good Old LR will save so much trouble in the long run.

Just ordered some rock last weds from JLR and haven't got it? I called the owner told me he was havin probs at the bank and was gonna refund my money and that he'd send me a link to pay with pay pal????? smells fishy but hes got like $200 of my coin already, I'm nervous but will let yas know

victorcan - Hmmm - deff let us know how that makes out. Seems like a lot of the responses I saw on that other link - I think I will be waiting to use them myself.

Matt, I may take you up on that, how old is it? Any algae? macro or micro

Its only been in the tank for a few months. I changed directions with what I wanted to do so now the lights only come on for about an hour a day to feed the 2 fish in there. so the rock has little life on it.
