Any one with Sargassum Algae in a fuge.

Moving Out
I picked up some floating sargassum at the Coral Corner in Racine. I wanted to give it a try, to see if it would grow in my fuge. Wondering if anyone local has been growing it?

I have something that might be the same thing... Mine is called 'Tang Heaven'... grows like a weed for me and yes, Tang's love it.

I have never heard of floating sargassum? sure it is not just detached... Do you have a pic of what it looks like? Any way I have had sargassam come in on live rocks allot and it never seems long lived.

True sargassum is just free-floating, and has gas-bubbles to help it stay afloat. I think any algae that looks like a weedy brown bush and floats gets called sargassum these days... but Im pretty sure the real deal is just the free floating kelp-like plant. True sargassum requires loads of light, as its right at the surface of the water.

I'll post some pics on the WRS website after a week of growth/shrinkage & let you all know how it's doing.
