I am considering getting these due to not having the skills to perform the mod and the professional look of the finished product. I was wondering has anyone else ordered these??

Also if so how did they perform?

It is expensive. $73 for the mod, and at least $20 for the pump means you should just spend the extra $40 and get a tunze.

Im not sure. But to be honest, I would much rather spend $140 on a non controlable tunze then a $120 Maxi Jet. That mod is great, but its a DIY. Not a pay tons of cash mod.

See if you can find a fellow reefer to mod it for you.

It's ripoff IMO

You can build one yourself for $4-$10 in material.

And I agree with the above. If you're spending that kind of money, might as well get a Tunze.

Really you should look into building one yourself, it's not that difficult to do.

I just built one for my 55 and it rocks! Im no DIY'er either, just used a drill and a hacksaw and it turned out pretty good. Theres no way I would spend 70 bucks on a "kit" when you can do it for almost nothing yourself.

Those guys were at NERAC II (North East Reef Aquarium Conference - Long Island, NY) a few weeks ago, and they had a demo tank set up with an out of the box MaxiJet 1200, a maxijet modded with their kit and a Tunze (I dont know which but I can probably find out).

They were inviting people to do the unscientific "feel for yourself" test, sticking your hand in front of each in the tank. In my opinion, their modded maxi-jet *significantly* outperfomed the original maxijet as well as the Tunze. I was very impressed by it's performance.

That said, I personally wouldnt spend that much on something I could make myself. However, if you arent big into DIY, then thats another story.

I would like to have 3 mods made with a hanging bracket, is this something you can do on the side, I will have new impellers delivered to you and send you a prepaid box to send them back.

I like your double propeller model for a 1200, also have you figured out were tog et grey PVC yet???

Let me know if you may be interested??

Also, I talked to the guy at premium and they said the have a prototype there and should be selling a mod kit for like 30+ bucks in the near future, but they said they have been waiting for weeks now and still no product, so the timeframe is undetermined?

You mean the grey like these? :)

This is the smaller 1.5" . The pipe used in nearly the exact same colour as the MJ pump.

This is the larger 2" for the largeer 1.75" Dumas propeller. The housing is painted with Krylon Fusion

What most people do is glue the existing suction cup bracket onto the MJ pump or glue them onto cleaner magnets.

You could also buy an aftermarket hanger for it.

Does anyone have a parts list and instructions for this mod? Where do you get the parts? Do you have to cut the slots in that plastic for the water inlets?

Thanks

Jay
