Sometimes the smaller guys get lost in the shuffle...Is TFPTPP the only store (sw fish/coral) in York, Hrsbrg, Lanc....? or are there other places I dont know about.

Slim pickins. There used to be a respectable mom & pop over in Colonial Park named Paxton Aquarium (or similar) but sadly they recently closed for good. Also used to be a place in Mechanicsburg on Trindle Road, but again... think they closed in the past year or two.

Only one remaining I'm aware of is Zootopia Pets on Derry Street, Harrisburg. Some people have poor impressions of them. I recently went in anyway and found it so be not great, but not awful. They specialize more on the reptile/small animal end... but they have small/okay selection of saltwater fish and coral.

Unless I'm unaware of another LFS, TFP remains king of the area.

hmmmm... this is sad news. but thats what I thought. I like TFP and I go there alot but having a little competition is always good for the consumer.

Did not know paxton aguarium shut down. They were making a good try at saltwater.
I think the best local store for live stock is right here. There is a lot of diverse things being kept, post what you are fragging, post what you want, go to frag swaps.

Many have tried, but retail cant compete with online sales. Most of the local businesses are still around but only do tank maintenance anymore.

The quality of TFPs coral husbandry has always been a little iffy, in my humble opinion, but their fish and dry goods are hard to beat if you factor in shipping from other sources.

reefandtails near reading is a good place to drop by. The website is a bit lacking but if you sign up for his email list, Mal sends out updates of everything he gets in. Everything I've gotten there so far has been healthy and done better than stock from tfp.

Also in reading is The Reef Hut great coral selection some high end sps and Lps lacks on softie corals. The fish selection is good sometimes has rare and hard to find fish. Prices I find to be about 20% less than tpp

Does anyone know what happened to Beyond the Reef in Bloomsburg PA ?
I have called them several times and no one answers the phone :sad2:.
Did the big flood of 9/2011 affect them?
I was thinking of taking a ride, just to see if they are still in business ???
Thanks,
Herbie

The land lord was trying to sell the building for way more than it was worth so they got out before they were kicked out.
