Any Prodibio users out there? Curious....

I have been dosing Prodibio for about two months now. Although the corals look great, I am noticing some things that concern me lately?

I read allot of threads about people dosing this and they noticed that their macro algae died off due to starvation. I also noticed that they had mentioned that it killed other non wanting algae such as cyano....

I have NO algae in the tank what so ever, I am noticing that my macro is still growing strong and I am now getting allot of cyano in my sump where the macro is?

I also noticed that my skimmer used to get a full cup in a week off my tank (Its a Tunze 9010) and now since using prodibio I might get about a 1/4 cup a week now..... ????

Anyone have any suggestions.

'I have NO algae in the tank what so ever' means no macro either. Are you saying you don't have hair algae? What are your nitrates/phosphates reading? Are you over feeding? I would guess that is what your cyano is thriving off of.

As far as testing goes, Salifert kits everything is in line perfectly.

I currently feed as follows

Tank is a 75 gallon mostly SPS
Every day 1 pinch of Spectrum pellets
Every 3rd day I feed 1 cube of frozen mysis and brine
I also keep algae sheets in the tank for the tangs to nibble on.

The display is algae free and looks great, its just that the sump is a complete mess! Cyano that is that makes it messy.

Since it is so isolated, why not try removing as much as you can manually?

No not weird, but IMO as long as your nutrients are very low just keep vacuuming it up. Eventually it should run out of gas. Perhaps you could just run power heads and lights in the display and cut off your overflow to the fuge. Drape a big towel or blanket over your sump to make sure there is no light contact and wait it out. Macro algae should be easy to replace. You could take some of the Macro out of the fuge and, since you don't need you light anyway, keep it alive in a separate container somewhere. To my understanding (which could be wrong) cyano bacteria need nutrients to feed off and light. If you deprive it of either, it should (again in theory) die.

Cyano hates high flow as well, and in theory cold water. I read about lowering water temperature in another post here so it remains to be put to the test for me.

I'm using it now, about 2 months, my chaeto hasn't died off yet, but all my other macro in display has. Currently using bioptim every 3 weeks, biodigest every 2 weeks, and 1/2 vial of reef booster every week. I started a little journal of it on my red house.

Curious... if your system is doing great, and your coral is looking good, why are you dosing at all? I'm not sure why anyone would want to dump a bunch of things into their tank when it is doing just fine without it.

Just so you know, I dose my reef. Every time I do a water change.
