Any serpent stars that are safe with shrimp?

I've got two serpent stars in my tank that I adopted when a local reefer had his tank crash. Little did I know that they would eat my shrimp and crabs. I have lost a big emerald crab, a nice porcelain crab, a cleaner shrimp and a huge coral banded that I've had forever. I love the stars but I think I like the shrimp better. Are there any stars that are ok with shrimp? The one I have is pretty big, 12" across and that is the one that I caught eating my last shrimp. The other that I've got is about 7" across and is grey/blue color with the spines on its legs being yellow.

Green brittlestars are voraceous predators, serpent stars have smoothe arms, brittle stars have spines on their arms.

Move them to a fuge or a tank sith big fish.

Thanks for clearing up the difference. The larger of the two is a serpent and the one with the yellow spines on it's legs is a brittle star. The one that I caught killing the shrimp is the serpent.

My green serpent star has been living peacefully with every little invert in my tank that ive noticed including my coral banded shrimp

I wouldn't count on that continuing indefinitely, judging by my own experience.

Cheers,

Are you saying that you've had the same problems I have? I was beginning to think that I've just got a rogue serpent.

Just gave my serpent away after 2 skunk cleaners, 1 peppermint, and 1 clown. Liked it as a scavenger...but it really limited my options as to what I could have in the tank...wasn't a green serpent star...but sometimes they learn to become aggressive so I'm told. Put it in a bigger tank with no shrimp or fish big enough to catch.
