Looking for a decent in sump skimmer if someone is looking to part with one.

Current system is about 140 gallons total, would like a skimmer that can handle up to 250 to account for future upgrades.

Thanks for looking.

I haven't been here in a while and I had mentioned selling some of my remaining favored equipment( as I had a major change in hobbies over the last couple of years - the main one being having a child and then there are those damn computers that need building and upgraded constantly) to a fellow forum member that lead me here.
Anyways , sorry for the long intro , back to my skimmer. It is an Aerofoamer clone made by the one and only Jeff Luberto. This skimmer is around 32" tall and uses 8" diameter acrylic. This skimmer should be able to handle well over 1000 gals. It is complete minus pump and plumbing. It also has the automatic catch reservoir. I'm NOT willing to ship unless buyer is willing to pay actual shipping and packaging fees. This is at least $50 as there are 3 boxes and it isn't light. This is actually better than an original Aerofoamer as it was built using thicher acrylic and better parts.
I'm looking to get $300 firm picked up. Oh yeah , I forgot to mention - This skimmer is brand new and never used! I just never had the time or the space. It has been sitting in the boxes it was shipped in for about 3 years and only removed for the awe factor among friends. I may be able to send pics if needed. Anyways , LMK if interested. I may be interested in high-end computer parts in trade or partial trade.

I will have a H&S model 200-1260 which is rated for up to 300 gallons. Im not ready to sell it quite yet until the livestock is sold. I would like to sell it for $600.

Double Post. Sorry about that pulled the trigger too soon. New here, ya know!! Who is Jeff Luberto? Built better than the Aerofoamer? Got a picture as I just received a 830 Aerofoamer and it is built like a Army tank! Just wondering. Thanks in advance, Jack

Deltec and H&S are VERY close in performance. By and large, their pumps are pretty much the same and their configurations are close. They both have sponsor forums here on RC so check them out.

Thanks for the links appreciate and for you comment on the skimmers now its just a matter of preference i guess...

Do you like black or gray? If you're buying new, the prices between the two brands are really close now that H&S has raised their prices. If you're going used, just find the best deal.

here's a link to what mine is , clone wise. I think that the injector housing may be a little different.

Liquidfludity, No clue about that site as that is nothing like the Aerofoamer site I got mine from. Here is where I went. http://www.reefconcepts.com/products/skimmers/800series/ There is now a conventional collection cup as an option. Seems like they made a location change . I called them to find out more as I have seen them in action and everyone I spoke to were pleased. Hope I will be half as pleased as them. We all hope we made the correct choice in our equipment, I feel like I have.

The site I listed is just a distributor for Reef Concepts. The model shown is the original design that actually used a cup instead of the newer cupless design. When I purchased mine , there was debate over which was better and if there was any actual benefits of the cupless design over the w/cup design. The only reason I linked that site was to give an example of what I have as i couldn't find anything at The Reef Concepts site pertaining to the previous models. I hope that helps.

I have messed with a ton of different skimmers including beckett and the cheap ones(coralife, etc) and the H&S is by far the best skimmer I have ever seen. It never requires adjustment and always pulls out the same nasty dark stuff. If I were to buy another skimmer I cant image it being anything but a H&S or maybe a deltec.

In my experience, the "best" skimmers like H&S and Deltec are the best for their size. If you took a mediocre skimmer and made it 10 times larger (including a larger pump etc) it would absolutely destroy the smaller skimmer made by Bubble King or Deltec. If you take a look at JJ's Volcano skimmer, you will see what I mean. I am confident that it doesn't pack as many tiny bubbles per cubic inch as a BK does, but it has so many more cubic inches of volume that it blows away the smaller skimmers.

That being said, if you are space limited and money is no object, you might as well go with the "best" skimmer. On the other hand, if you don't have space constraints, you should go with the biggest skimmer that performs reasonably well for its size.
