Curious if the 175w MH's are plenty of PAR to color and grow SPS? Given a 2'x2' area at most to cover...

Not expecting crazy growth on the bottom of the tank but at least mid level up decent color and growth.

Depends upon the bulb and reflector. Iwasaki's 175w 15k outperforms many popular 250w bulbs, although it is much whiter than you would think a 15k would be. With quality reflectors you could easily have a mixed reef with SPS in the upper half.

Here is my old standard 120 gallon that is no more due to a mishap of mine. It was ran with 2 175 watt Iwasaki's on a standard ballast with 2 54 watt T5 supp's.

I still have the 120 and rebuilt starting with a couple of surviving corals and use all T5 lighting now.

I ran 2 on my 65 SPS tank and I had amazing growth but I always had heat issues. It was one of those tanks where the tips of the sps grew out of the water.
