Im planning on a 24x24x18", i have a major space issue, im planning on just a top filter with polyfilter (foam), phosguard and carbon. Planning liverock and 2" sand or less, gbta, a pair of clown, a yellow tang, algae blenny, fire goby, skunk shrimp and maybe a small blue fish other than damsel (might not). Plannin on some leathers, gsp, zoas, palys, and might add some lps in future. No sps ever. Please help.ill keep changing polyfilter every 2 weeks. Along with media.

I would ditch the filter and use a hang on skimmer and maybe a hang on reactor with GFO and GAC in it. The live rock will provide biological filtration so if you have enough you wont need filter media, the skimmer will actually pull organics out of the water and you just have to clean the cup, where as the filter will trap it all and you will only export the organics when you clean the whole filter which you will have to do often. I would certainly run GAC with soft corals as they release chemicals into the tank that the GAC will absorb. The yellow tang will maybe be fine while it is younger but should be in a longer tank when it is bigger. If you want a blue fish look into chromis or a yellow tailed damsel.

Damsels are agressive, chromis looks good in good nos. For my tank i cant add too many
I dont have space for hob of any kind, thts why i can only go for internal (eheim biopower 200 or diy pvc) or a top filter.

If you only have space for an internal I think tunze have an internal skimmer that even surface skims and gets pretty rave reviews. As far as damsels go if you don't overstock your tank and you add it last a yellow tail (one of the least aggressive) should be ok, but if you overstock most fish will get aggressive anyway.

Ok, but in my country, i dont get that brand. The brands we get are very big like RO or boyu. They will look ugly in my dt. Eheim internal i can block the view using lr.

My 55g is a mixed tank, euyphilla, acans, softies, zoas, palys, a few nems. Nothing but water, heaters, powerheads rock and lights, its also barebottom. Does well, if you grow algae have snails to take care of it. If you have sand siphon it once a week. Keep the waste from accumulating and se snails to eat any algae that grows and you will be fine.

My 20g sps tank is also the same way only nothing but sps. Barebottom, sump as a settling chamber, heaters, powerheads, very high flow in the display, very low flow in the sump. Siphon out the gunk in the sump once a week and blow out the rocks. Takes about 30min to do maintenance.

55g i dont really do a maintenance day, i have the flow set to make detritus accumulate in a certain spot and i suck it out every other/3rd day, just a couple cups of water worth and replace it with a couple cups saltwater. Still blow out the rocks once a week.

I want something like ur 55g. Im plannin on fiter jus to remove particles and polish water. I also have purigen which iv used successfully in my planted tanks to remove all the tannis coming from wood, worked amazing. i dont wana grow algae in dt. Is it really necessary to grow algae? What fish stock u have in ur 55g and 20g?
