Hi Reefers,
I'm trying to decide whether to go to Southern California's Reefapolooza. Has anybody been to this conference before. Is it worth the trip?
Thanks for any info you can give me.

It's the longest running and largest club event held in California, well worth the trip. I've been to every one of them :D

I went last year for the first time. There were tons of corals, and equipment for sell. I wont be able to go this year but wish i could.

I have been going for a a couple of years now and I have enjoyed it every time. I go both days, I like to listen to the lectures and speak with the reps from different companies.

I fly down and find it well worth the trip. Its a great show with lots of nice coral there and many dry goods to check out in person. Plus there is a very good raffle which may send you home with something nice for basically free.

Went to last years. It was defiantly worth the drive from Arizona. My only complaint was it was crowded. So maybe I should be telling you all it was horrible so a can move around better. LOL

I will be there on Sunday. I have a baseball game so it will be impossible for me to go on Saturday. I hope I don't miss any deals or sick stuff on Saturday...

Better deals on Sunday at the end of the day. Only problem is all of the good corals are usually gone, but then again those are the really expensive ones. Also some of the vendors only stay for the first day, but mostly everything is still there and the crowds are a little less. I go both days listen to the speakers, a little swap meet and I like to talk with the reps from the sponsors, ie Tunze, Deltec, H&S and Specatrpure and so on.

When and where is it? I guess I should know (I live in SoCal), but I've been out of the hobby for a while and am looking to get back into it. Did I already miss it this year?

Reefapalooza occured on weekend of Oct 22-23, 2011 at the OC fairgrounds.
Being brand new to the hobby as well, I went to RAP looking to buy equipment but found mainly vendors doing show-n-tell rather than selling them.
The next main event for SoCal marine enthusiasts will be marineaquariumexpo.com on March 30 thru April 1, 2012 at the OC fairgrounds.
