i can only find gsp but i got this rock with these red star polyps the don't grow on mat on rock but branch out across rock

are there any other color star polyps out there cause all i see is green star polyps.

They are definatly not star polyps.

They are typically call "Sand Polyps", which could either mean Zoanthids or those depending on the vendor.

I am 99% sure Clavularia is the family they belong to.
NOT Pachyclavularia - The star polyp family.

It could be as simple as splitting hairs as some people see it but the fact that the do not grow in a mat pretty much tells you that they are not Pachyclavularia.

You did not read what I said.

The coral in your picture is often called sand polyps, so are zoanthids, which you gave a link for. Do you not understand that ?

Are you telling me the picture of the linked zoanthids are zoanthids or sand polyps ?

Are you going with common names or scientific names ?

CLAVULARIA is the best scientific name to classify your coral. The best and only way we could know is to do a tentacle count of the polyps.

Thanks for conceding

The clavularia sp. in your picture come in different colors, they all have mute colors tho, nothing exciting. I have seen Burnt Orange, Purple, Pink, and various shades of "red".

pachyclavularia is what they are copy my pic and zoom in look at, they are not as you postedClavularia ARE "Glove" and "Clove" corals. look at last link i posted clove and glove polyps on each tentacles are frilly on the polyps i have each tentacle on a polyp is a straight tentacle with nothing else on it.

These are my pink ones...if the two of you decide what you want to call them and you would like a frag of it let me know.
