Anybody know where to get small qtys of stainless spring steel in thin gauge?

I didn't see any spring steel, but I wonder if a compression spring will suit my purposes.

Just a thought. If you extended the tab you would have been mounting the metal to. You could try to use two magnets so they repel each other. one on the tab and one on the panel. can use a few sets if needed. Some of those flatter disk magnets are very strong.

Make sure you check out the grade of the stainless, #306 WILL RUST! it needs to be #316 Most fab shops can get 4x8 sheets of regular 316 stainless that can be polished to a shine and don't pit or rust like the other stuff.

So far I haven't had any luck locating somebody to sell a small quantity of spring steel in any grade and the stuff I've been looking at is too small for my purposes.

I'm still looking, but right now the hood construction is on hold for a room remodel in our house, but I will come back to it in a few months.
