Woah I recently got a frag of something else from a local reefer and a few polyps looked like that. What is the probability that it would survive?? And how many days would it take to see a positive result?

We did get this worked out with Martin. I'm very sorry that things went this way with this frag. Too heavy of a frag tile on these 10 polyp frags... smooshed polyps. Next time we ship the 10 polyps they'll be on styrofoam so that doesn't happen again.
They were not freshly cut. These have been in our tank for months. Mainly loose in a tupperware dish with rubble rock for them to attach to. That idea didn't work out so well though because they don't seem to like to attach to rubble very well.
We actually have a large amount of experience with zoanthids. The reason we said complete shade was to avoid the fungus starting. Had they been in shade that probably would not have happened. They do need light to grow, but they can close up for quite some time with no light and be fine. A day or 2 in shade while they recovered wasn't going to hurt.
These polyps are some of the hardiest zoas I have ever had... and fastest growing. We had someone buy some, dipped them in tropic marin pro for 5 hours or so (on accident) and yet they still recovered. These guys must have really gotten beaten up pretty bad with that heavy of a tile.
Just my $.02.

And he did replace them as promised and they look great.
I'm very happy with them.
Like I said earlier, zoanthid people are great.
The comment about experince was only because of the complete shade that you suggested.
I agree that lower light at first, and espescially in the case of injured corals.
They were put at the bottom in a protected area as do all my new corals.
The question I had about the tumor,,, I should have said, tissue growth that is almost tumor like.
I have some other zoanthids like these, that don't have the large bulbous type base that these do. But I also received another order this weekend with the same growth. So I would guess that this is normal with these.

Oh yeah these have a very strange mat on them. They much prefer to encrust over rock and usually just barely hang on. I assume this is because they like lower flow and don't really need to hang on to the rock much.
If you let these polyps grow without anything to attach to they will actually get almost a root on them. Very strange. Then they have that large mat that comes out about 1" above the root.
Not a tumor... that's just how they grow. We have a very large colony of these and every single one is that way.
