anyone attempt to raise hermit crab larva?

i noticed today one of my hermit crabs has a nice load of eggs surrounding her soft stomach. few months ago i had what i thought was a spawning from my shrimp, but i only have one shrimp... i guess it could have been from the hermit crabs.

do hermit crabs spawn regularly in tanks?

im getting ready to raise some peppermint shrimp. i missed the last spawn... but im ready for another. i have a book on training and raising peppermint shrimp and i have everything i need. but right now im wondering if hermit crabs would be worth trying.

They spawn quite regularly in aquariums. However, I'm not aware of anyone trying to raise them.

i searched each of my hermits today and found no eggs... they must have been released... oh well, i guess ill just raise a batch of brine shrimp for the fun of it instead!

the brine shrimp are doing good, half grown already.

lots of hermits have eggs right now. my larva collector isnt finished yet so things will have to wait.

anyone else have advise?

i think commercial raising of hermit crabs would be worth while. of course a bulk supply of empty shells would need to be available. i think that the shells could be mass produced useing plastic. some of the pasta shells at the store make me think mass production of diff size plastic shells is certainly possible. perhaps diff sizes and diff colors to sort different age groups. lol, iv had a lot of time to think about this already... maybe if i figure out how to raise huge numbers of hermits then i may need to come up with a solution for the shells.
