I just thought I'd throw this out there--kind last minute... I thought I was gonna have a helper for the big transfer today. I'm pretty sure she backed out--bad back & not very dependable... Anyone available today to help me with this?

I figured I would move all the corals into a big fiberglass tub I have (only leaks a little) & cover them w/tank water. The LR will go into styros. I was only planning on having about a 2" sand bed in the new tank. I really think my corals are doing poorly because of the DSB (can't figure any other reason). I have 30lbs of "dead" sand & then I am gonna scoop the top 2" of chock-full-o-critters LS from my tank. Then rinse the remaining sand from the old tank in FW & use whatever I need, placing the live sand on top. Then I fill the tank w/salt water from a 33g bucket & the 2 tanks (whatever I didn't use to cover the corals). The corals can stay in the tub w/the old PC lights & pumps for a day, I guess, while the sand clloud settles. I have a diatom filter I'm gonna put on there for the night (thanks Nina!). If I have to, I'm prepared to do all this myself but it would be nice to have an extra hand or 2.

Please call me if you can help 847-928-0628 I'm in the Ohare area.

Well, it didn't get done today... got into a car accident on the way to HD for a few more fittings. :( Gonna try again tomorrow. Hubby did put the lights in the canopy though!

Changed my mind & started moving everything at 7pm. Moved all corals out, drained water, moved sand bed (It smelled great--nothing wrong w/it at all) & filled my 1st 30g of SW. ALL BY MYSELF! I did forget to dip the corals, so I'll do that tomorrow, before they go in (when I have more time & am less stressed). I really thought I'd find a lot of zoas behind my wall of rock. Just a few shrooms. Tomorrow's the fun day!

Only bad thing I did, was scrape some palys off the glsss--they squirted me in the face! Good thing my mouth was closed & I wear glasses. Washed out my mouth/face/eyes, just in case. No harm done...

Most of you guys don't probably care to read all this but to tell you the truth, I've been in the aquarium hobby for over 27 years (worked in it for 8) & refused to even walk down the SW isles. Never had the guts to keep SW. Now I have a healthy DSB that smells good after 2 years!

dont forget to show off your photography(spell check) skills once you get it all set up and running :) :)
