im thinking of building a stand for a 29 gallon, or possibly a 40 gallon breeder.

question is, did you use 2x4s? and would the 4 corners be enough support

I am working on a stand for a 30 gallon cube and I plan on using 3/4" aspen pine for the sides. Now I had planned on using 2x3's but because the stand is only 25" wide and about 18" deep I am not going to do the framing, only the outsides nailed together. I am going to put in a partition in the middle so I can house a mini sump on one side and then a power panel and storage area on the other side. dsparks has a nice thread on his stand.

the problem with using 2x4s on such a small footprint is that it would be overkill(by a longshot) and it would be wasting valuable space inside the stand
on a larger tank stand I would go with a poplar frame because it would be truer.--2x4s are never staight or true

scott-

Tank and stand look killer! :D

But your right its overkill lol :D

better safe than sorry.. and piece of mind is great!
