I am also thinking of using kalk. I believe that kalk controls alk/ph. It is my understanding that you would still need to dose calcium or use some time of calc reactor. That is what I have gathered so far, but am still learning.
it depends on how much calcium your system demands. I top off with Kalk and just doing that for the first year and a half or so was fine. As my corals grew and my calcium demand when up I had to start dosing again.
softies dont need any where near as much calcium as lps and sps becuase they dont have to grow a skelaton. and as lps and sps get bigger they need more calcium just to keep their skelaton strong. just like humans.
would it be a waste of time to dose with kalk if my only aspirations are collecting zo's and paly's?
I am mostly concerned about PH and the benefits kalk brings with it. Does every amoutn of kalk have to be dripped? I can't just put a little bit in with my top off water mix it over night and dump it into the sump?
