Anyone else have issues with Aqua Medic MH's?

Okay, for the second time in four years, I've had to replace the end caps in my Aqua Medic 250W DE fixture. Both times, one endcap has completely melted the metal contact of the bulb. I've got two PFO pendatns and have never had any issues. I know the Aqua Medic pushes a lot more par, so it may burn hotter (when I played with the par meter way back, I measured ~700+ just below water surface under the Aqua Medic and only ~400+ under the PFO's). I know coralreefing had to replace an end cap in his shortly after getting his too (right before I got mine). Just wondering if anyone esle has had the same issues, or worse. I'm waiting on a house fire. When I replaced the end caps (and bulb, of course), I had to replace all of the terminal connectors. They crumbled as soon as I put a screw driver on the terminal screw...

Could you not just try a different end cap? If this has happened twice already Id email the company with safety concerns. More than likely if you try to be nice at first and tell them twice this has happened and what if your house had burnt down? Chances are if you are on top of things they will send you a new unit and you send back the other so they can research the problem. If they think that its a safety issue they will take it back even if its past the warranty time. Thats just my two cents!

When you replace end caps, you change from the OEM to a different end cap. There aren't too many choices when it comes to DE end caps/sockets. The ones I just put in the pendant actually had a rating on the end cap (others OEM's did not), so maybe these are stouter. I was just wondering if coralreefing and I got bad units, or if it runs rampant.
