Anyone ever built a DIY Oceans Motions?

Enjoy

That's what she said....
I am thinking about building my own version of an Oceans Motions 4, 6, or 8 way. I have aluminum stock to use, and plan on buying a 1rpm ac motor to turn the inside drum.

Can someone give me some input on how oceans motions seals the inside water tight? Do they just use standard O-rings?

Any info will help. Thanks

yes, the top seals to the body with a larger o ring...

and the drum is turned with a disc that has several powerful magnets... and the drum has several magnets imbedded into it.. so there is no 'shaft' to seal...

the only seal is the body, where the drum is.. so you can take it apart and clean it/maintain it...

The Oceans motions are made out of some kind of HMV plastic or Delron, they have no metal that touches the water. They use a lip with an O ring to seal it, I have an old smaller oceans motions compact squirt if you would like to have one for ideas? I will have to dig it out of my mess.

The Sea Swirls use a strong magnet on the motor and then a drum that has a sealed magnet as well. In my opinion unless you have time to tinker, it would be hard to save any money DIY?

Have fun, and let me know if you would like me to find the old unit I have to get ideas.
