The last few days I've been requesting quotes from different tank builders and some of my lfs's for my new build. I know that the quotes will be all across the board depending on quality and reputation but I really want to look at ALL my options. I also know you get what you pay for.
So today I received my first two quotes for my peninsula style 72"x30"x21".
Glass Cages- $2,550 with stand, canopy, and shipping. I know there are ton of mixed reviews and sloppy seams.
Texas Ocean Aquatics- $1,700 1/2 inch glass with stand and canopy. LFS said they get all their tanks from them and that they do good work. I was hoping someone has heard of them.
My first question is if anyone has ever had a tank built by them? The price seems very cheap. Although DSA, which has a great reputation makes a pre fab 72"x27"x21 for $1850 through Saltwateraquarium.com. Those prices dont seem far off from each other.
Second question, is 1/2 inch glass okay for a tank this size. I would think that 3/4 inch would be the way to go. Although I'm waiting on a quote from Coast to Coast, and they claim 1/2 glass is fine and I trust with their reputation that it would be fine.
Still waiting on quotes from
-DSA
-Planet Aquarium
-Coast To Coast
-DFW Tanks
Thanks ahead of time.
