from Petco? I stop in every now & then to see what's what & today they have a powder brown tang in a tiny cube tank with a baby coral beauty .... it's fins are a little tattered, noticble, but not horrible ...

Happy New Year everyone - this site is an asset to anyone interested in the hobby.

Yes, all the time. Save the powder brown! A simple 10 gal QT with an air stone will pobably give him a better home than what he has now.

I know what you are saying but everytime you "save" something from their store they see it as a sale and revenue and a reason to continue bringing in more stock. The more we save from them the more they bring in because of all the sales they make.

you both have good points & I gave it serious consideration to picking it up. It's larger (4-5") ... I don't know if I want to to drop $45 on it ... to have it die in a week ...

I had to run from my PETCO when it 1st opened. They had several not health fish in bad tank conditions. I knew if I rescued them that I would be just encouraging them to bring in more. I stay out of their fish section now.

It stinks for the fish but I have to agree with Blown. It is the stores responsibility to ensure that the fish are healthy to begin with so that their fish don't need rescuing.
You can do more for the fish overall by keeping these places out of business.

Nope! Recommend get the healthiest possible fish you can find at a good store (watch it eating) or mail order (14 day warranty). Both your nerves and wallet will thank you for it.
