Anyone going to Rod's??

Hi Everyone~
Just wondering if anyone in the west burbs was heading to Rod's this week. I'd love to try "Rod Food" but won't be able to make it up for about another week.

If you pick me up some, I would be happy to throw in a few bucks for a fuel surcharge

Pufferpunk I don't believe this is factually correct. I'm pretty sure the food, the clowns, and maintenance are the things driving the business.

He's only a phone call away. But you should go out there RS. Pick up food, a gizmo, and a coral and it's well worth the visit.

That was kind of my feeling. I have every intention in the world of going up there soon...I was just wondering if anyone was going up there before me and interested in picking up some food for a few extra bucks

i think thats kinda harsh to say that punk.,,,,

you make it sound like rod is a "soup nazi" lol

did rod actualy tell you to say that? i highly doubt it.

he was just asking fellow reefers to help him out. somtimes its better to take an initial loss to get a bigger return later.

Roud has stated countless times, here & in person, that he doesn't plan to sell extra foods to anyone going for someone else. It's an extra bonus for making the trip.

To clarify: He'll sell extras to people for those not making the trip, but the price on those will be retail, $30, rather than the discounted price he offers to customers at the shop. Given the price of gas and the number of gallons used, if all one wants is the food that's probably worth it if someone is fetching it for them.

The food is a pillar of his business. It normally sells for $30, he sells it for $21 and change, basically wholesale price with a tiny profit, to those who go into the shop given they will be buying other stuff.

Like my favorite of his items: "Rod's Really Big Gizmo"

Hopefully that clarifies.

BTW he has reformulated how he makes the food in ways that make it even better: soaking the noori in Selcon and garlic, for example, so the tangs susceptible to ick get more of those additives. Man, that's gotta take loads of time and effort.

I searched a bit here and other forums. Peeps are imitating the food, with less than great success.

Of course, Rod's a punk and his shop smells (where have you been Ed, on vacation? Thought you'd have chimed in hours ago...)

That is new to me, maybe since he's been selling to PA? I should just mind my own business...

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate all of your input....I think I'm going to take a trip out there tomorrow! I realize there is more there than just food so I should see for myself. So I guess my question is this now...Anyone need some food??

Embryoguy....yes, Rod is a great guy from what I can tell. We've had a bunch of correspondance in the past. I'm even trying to get him in an open wrestling tournament with me!

No, I hear you aren't allowed to do that.

As pufferpunk stated, Rod would rather you make the trip to his shop for Rod's food as he makes very little profit from it and it is a nice "treat" for making the drive to his store. I'm sure if you've never tried if before he would be willing to let someone pick a pack up for you, but as embryoguy said call him first and ask.
