Anyone good at sealing tanks?

I'd like to reseal the 90g I just got because the silicone is starting to peel up, and is chipped along the edges. Is anyone in the area good with making a nice looking seal job? Obviously, only the four vertical seams need to look good, the rest will be under sand!

I've sealed my sump, but the job wasn't pretty. I tried using a spoon to smooth the silicone in the seam (from the caulk gun), but either used too much or too little silicone, and made a mess. It's fine for a sump, but I want my display to look nice...

Let me know if you can help me with this!

OK, after reading google a bit, it seems using masking tape along the seams makes for a neat job. Is it really that easy? Maybe I can pull it off myself with the masking tape.

Are you taking the tank completely apart? The old silicone will need to be completely removed. Silicone will leave a residue on the glass. This can be removed with a abrasives. I think it could also be removed with a chemical not sure which one. THe key is to get it prepped good before putting it back together.

I just redid my 150, twice. It is a PITA. No, the masking tape method turned out to be a disaster. Wait 10 seconds too long and you will be pulling up the whole edge and then you won't be able to smooth it back down. Using your finger as soon as you can is the best method. It is easier to lay down a few smaller beads and smothing them out than one big bead. i.e, lay down a bead, smooth it out, come back an hour later, put down another bead, smooth it out...

You need to get most of the old silicone off using a razor blade. I then used a wire wheel on a pnumatic angle grinder to get the rest of it up the. No, it didn't scratch the glass. Then used MEK to clean the glass before laying down the new bead.

I don't plan to disassemble the tank, just do the internal seals. I know I need to work quickly (silicone starts to set in a few minutes), do you think I'd have enough time if I did one seam at a time, peeling the masking tape after each seam is completed?
