Anyone have a 12' Long tank

You will have a hard time finding glass that is longer than 10 ft. The cost for the panes more than triple when you go longer. At least that is what I was told when I was looking to build a 12 ft long tank and settled for the 10 ft long one.

dgasmd, that's what I'm finding out from both acrylic tank builders and glass, 130" is as long as I've found at a normal pricel. I had an acrylic tank builder tell me $20,000 for a tank 12' long. Are you happy with your 10' long? Is it glass? How thick is it?

mm949, I would like to hear more about your tank, who built it?

I have a 13'8" starphire and FRP tank. Odd length because the price doubled to go any longer. Very happy with the tank so far, though I 've only had it a short time and don't even have water in it yet. Had a 10' acrylic tank before and regretted it after just a few years; it looked quite rough by year 8. For the new glass tank I was a little worried that even starphire would start to look green at 1.5" thickness, but fortunately the clarity is still excellent.

My last tank was 10ft Straphire, I was great. At that time I was told that's as long as it comes unless you custom order, I didn't inquire on the cost of that.

Mine was glass with 3/4" low iron glass, eurobraced with no cross braces at all. Would do it again in a heartbeat!!! Starphire, as a brand only goes to 1/2" unless something has changed in the last few years. I loved my 10' tank. Would never own an acrylic tank ever again. I had a 360g acrylic many years ago. Very clear although the thickness does distort the viewing some even when looking straight through. The scratching on it was simply ridiculous. Never again. The only benefit over glass was the weight, but since I personally don't move my tanks on a daily basis that was a pretty retarded and mute point:spin1:
