Anyone have a 250W MH 10K+ for sale cheap?

I'm needing to test out a 250W MH wallpack unit with standard screw mogul. Does anyone have a bulb that will fit this cheap? I'd like to have something 12-15k or greater, but I might entertain a 10K for my testing purposes.

Please let me know asap. I've seen some 14k bulbs on ebay (i don't know what brand), for around $24), but I don't wanna wait for shipping. Although, this might be as cheap as I can get one.

Thanks,
Ryan

I've got a used XM 10K (8 months) you can have.

Its on the yellow side even compared to other XM 10k's, which is the reason i changed it a tad early.

Your welcome to it, I was saving it as a backup but have since gotten new ones.

Cool... Where are you located and when are you available?

Gotta love these Admin to Admin and B2B relations!... lol.

I'm in Lavergne. I can call my wife and you can get it now if you like. PM me for directions.
I am gone from 7 - 5 but my wife works from home so anytime really.
I work in downtown nash if that works for you.

I'm in Shelbyville. My wife works in Smyrna though!!! Wooooo thats an idea... hook the wives up. Although I wouldn't mind coming over tonight to pick it up just to meet you and see your tanks.

I'll pm you.

Thanks!

Gotta meeting (yay) ill be back on in an hour or so.

Thanks again. The MH ballast fired after making some wiring adjustments to it. Its one of those ballasts that can take 120v all the way up to a 270v(wierd?) with about 5 voltages in between. I dunno what all the voltages are for beside 120v and 240v, but anyway it worked.

You were right... that bulb is VERY yellow. However the intensity of a 250W MH on my 58 gal is pretty high. I wouldn't be able to deal with that either.

What do you guys think about a single 250W MH on 58gal? Or should I maybe drop down to a single 175W or maybe even 2x175W to disperse the light better than a single 250w? No matter what I do, I'm definitely going to go with a 12k-14K bulb of some sort.

Yea, its yellow. It was bad from the start. It does get whiter after about 10 minutes.

On my 65 (same dimensions as your 58 just taller) I run 2 175w. I tested just one bulb and it left shadows on the sides which I didn't like. Also the 2 work better with having the brace in the middle. So far everything is doing well under the 2 175w. The Iwasaki 15K 175w is my favorite bulb for 175w. I think Gary has some now and likes them as well. These bulbs put out some great PAR with a slight blue to them. I still supplement them with actinic.

This is going to be a hard decision for me. I'm looking to upgrade to a 110g or > sometime this winter. Do you know if Gary has 175w on his big tank?

Concerning the Iwasaki bulbs, for the K... do they tend to be more white or more blue compared to other 14k or 15k bulbs?

The Iwasaki are more white on my ballasts (icecap electronic). Gary is going to have them over his 120 gallon which he said he isnt going to have SPS in (just some LPS and zoas). According to Sanjay the Iwasaki have more par than some 250w bulbs. I don't know if you have checked it or not but here is his site where you can compare bulbs and ballasts:

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh if i only understood that crap. heh.

At the meeting this weekend, I really need to sit down with someone and talk lights.

I'm running 250W DE AB 10K's over the 125 (will likely be switching to a different bulb soon-the AB's give great color to SPS, but not fluorescence for other corals) and 175W 15K XM's (currently, but not for much longer) over the 120. The ballasts I have on the 120 won't run the 15K Iwasaki's, but my other M57's will, so I am going to move ballasts and put the Iwasaki's over the 120 in the next few days. I fired the Iwasaki's for a few minutes and like the color. They are alot less blue than the 15K XM's, or the 12K Sunburst over the QT tank, for that matter.
