Anyone have a dremel?

Hello all, I'm trying to see if anyone local has a dremel and would like to come over later and drink some beers and help me destroy my tank! :uzi::blown:

Seriously though, today's the day the old liverock comes out, but I have a bit of an issue. I have those damn blue star polyps on everything, but just recently they moved to a piece of tonga branch that I hoped they wouldn't. On this piece, I have mounted a nice green cap colony, a red cap colony, and most importantly, the gorgeous and sensitive yellow fiji leather that I've FINALLY gotten to live up to it's fullest potential. It's mounted with that reef epoxy you can get in the tube, so I would think a dremel would do the trick. Don't want to hacksaw it if I don't have to. This coral is fairly fragile it seems.

Anyhow, I'll be drinking beer, eating pizza, and probably cursing alot later through this process. If anyone wants to join (dremel or not) shoot me a PM or post here. I could probably use all the help I can get aquascaping with the new rock, etc. Let me know.

i'll be waiting for the posts on this later on.......should be interesting.

Hadn't thought of this yet. That could work, maybe even a flat-head screwdriver. I'll have to see. There is even a spot that I could posibly pry out the original rock with something like that. Hopefully that works. Either way, like I said, anyone interested in hanging out and working on the tank tonight is welcome.

harbor freight, lowes, or HD will have just what you need to properly erradicate the star polyps.

I'll never forget the first time I went to another reefers house and there's reefermac with his crack torch burning brown star polyps off sections of rock and sticking the rock right back in.

"haven't had one come back yet" he exclaimed

I use safety glasses now after a tulip nem almost got me right in the eye though...

Oh man. This sounds intriguing, dangerous, and fun........ the problem is its going to be damn close to the corals in some cases. Hmmm

Slip a piece of aluminum foil between the coral and pest and torch away. The aluminum is so thin the heat dissapates and doesn't affect the coral.
