...just wondering...i had 1 a year ago. moved around all over, even up corner overflow and almost over, for about 1 week then stayed put till i think i fed it to death. anyway would like to try again but wondering if they're known for staying put once thay have the spot they like.

Mine tend to stay in the same place as long as the tank params are stable and I'm not changing the flow/lighting. If I shift a powerhead or boost my lighting, they may wander a bit. In my 29, the 3 bta's have been rooted in place for about 2 years without budging. In my 125, they've been in the same spot since July 2006 (they wandered a bit when I had a big sps crash, then settled in again).

i got an rbta last week, set it in the spot i wanted. it moved off the pebble it came on, buried its foot right behind it and hasent moved

My gbta stayed in one spot for about a year. I upgraded to 2 tunze nano streams, it walked around for 3 weeks and has now been in its new spot for a few weeks.

as long as your flows right your lighting is good and your perameters stay the same, oh, and its healthy to begin with... you shouldent have any trouble

Mine keep their feet planted, however when the lights come on they tend to extend until they take over a rather huge area on my rockwork, making it really difficult to use that space for corals. Then when the halides go off, they withdraw, making it look like I have just a bunch of rock in the tank. Annoying!

Mine went straight to the spot it's still in 2 years ago and has never moved. The clone is right next to it.

I have 5, ranging in size from 5" to 16" and all of them stay put and have for well over a year. I also have a lot of flow in my 300 gallon. You are not the only one though many people tell me about there roaming anemones.

mine sits on top of a rock like a heteractis magnifica right under the light he likes it there
i call it quadricolor magnifica (dumb joke i have in my head.)

LOL, that's what mine does. It's about 3" under the water surface directly under a 400W MH lamp. Who says they don't like lots of light! FWIW, a new gbta that I just bought had been under normal output fluorescent lights so I placed it in the shadows so it could select the lighting it preferred. 5 days later and it's perched beside my "quadricolor magnifica"!! I worry that the light'll shock it, but it chose the spot so it must like it!

Three of my BTA color morphs stay put, never move. My "true" rose BTA clones move around within a 2-square foot area but never far away. Those have only been in the tank a month so they may settle down in specific spots soon.

mine -rbta-has stayed on the rock she was purchased with. never moves. Does retract nd expand on occasion. my gbta did move at first but now stays put. He too retracts and expands.

DMK, what type of lighting did you have?

2X250W DE 14K w/ 2X95W actinic VHO.
i'm considering getting another but am really paranoid about it climbing glass up to TUNZE stream or MJ1200's. i don't want guards on them, they're enough of an eyesoar already. they have the supplied screens on them now...

So...you want an anemone, but you aren't willing to do what you need to make sure that it stays safe?
