Hi, just looking for like 3 chromis fish to add a bit of color and a school of fish to my tank now and I will be done. So funny, I just have not done much in so long excited about a little more life in it these days!! If you have some, just let me know where you are and how much, thanks!

i think you can get them at aquatic critter for $4.99 I like the blue/reef chromis. I think they are like $9 a piece at swf.com

thanks Steve, I just figured I would ask around if anyone here wanted to make a few bucks before I went retail...trying to help fellow reefers first. I know they are cheap fishies....and I figure a personal someone's tank might be better than a retail. I will check the blue ones out, thanks for the tip!

i dont know what the deal is or if its just our luck. Awhile back I had a 29 setup, just had 3 chromis (from AC) they didn't last long. One died overnight, the rest in a couple weeks. The same situation happened when my brother got 3. The blue/reef are really BLUE in the pics.

OK I defended the chromises awhile back about not being mean and lo and behold mine suddenly did turn freaky mean! He totally has almost killed his 2 buddies to the point I scooped one up real easy and removed to another tank. The other poor guy is ragged up and super skinny but EVERY time he even peeks out of the rockwork he is attacked. The dominent one is huge and fat I guess because he took all the food from the other 2. I am getting rid of him when I pull everyone next month to a fish only freinds tank. ANd my new PB tang is even meaner than the chromis. He killed my CBB!! :( and is working on my coral beauty and anyone else in his way. I have the worst luck trying to add fish! This is why I never do.

Angela, was your Chromis only mean to the other Chromis? If thats the case, maybe that happened with ours. swf.com Says the blue/reef can be kept in groups or singles. I'd like to get one of the blues...

My chromis were really aggressive... But it didn't take a while like Angela said... I bought about 6 and they did well for about a week, then one decided to go on a terror spree... 4 died within a week... That being said, I still have the other 2... And I've had them for about 5 months or so... I do have one big and fat one... The other spent about a month hiding in the rock work, but now comes out a lot more...

Steve ~ I've noticed that the big one can be aggressive when first introducing a new fish... But that usually settles down in the first day or two...

With all I've read about them being great schooling and group fish... I have yet to know anyone that can keep more than 2 for an extended period of time... Oh, that is withought a 350+ size tank...

Hi all, THANKSSSSSS for the advice, I had no idea!! I was thinking I would get a little group of schoolers, but nah, think I will pass now!! Anyone got anything else interesting and friendly they want to part with? Otherwise I shall find myself over at fins for one more addition! thanks again for saving me!! Angela, what is with the powder blue? I can't believe he is that mean....maybe he will do better in the larger tank since he will have more space. I hope so!

A little more than a week ago I added two green chromis into my 90 to go with one that was already in there. I thought, because the tank hadn't been set-up for long, that they would get along (that the old guy hadn't staked out his territory). When the lights were on, they all schooled together with no agression at all. On the third day I noticed one was dead and then the next day the other one was dead. The one that had been in the tank before and all of the other tank mates are fine. So, I can only assume it was the surviving chromis. None of my fish have ever shown agression toward any others, so this was a bit surprising. Adding all at once would probably have been a good idea... but from digging a little more in the last week I've heard of people having problems regardless of that.

Yea, $25 minimum a pop as opposed to $5 each is a big differance :( I even like the way the chromis look also but can't belive they do that. Mine were fine forever. I had 4 and one had a mystery death about 8 months ago but now i know it could have been the mean ones first blood! I am planning a school of anthia in the 270 but will need to sell some blood, plasma or a arm first

And yes my single big fat bully chromis is mean to everyone. Him and the PB play chase for blood nips quite a bit. I also have a royal gramma and Coral beauty he will dart for if they are in his way. It seem sI always have mean fish.

oh too funny, I am definitely gonna have to think about the anthias instead also!! I saw some about a year ago at fins, they are soooo pretty but I do remember they were expensive!!

:( he is making short work of my coral beauty now. I have about 2 weeks left before eveyone can go into the new tank to give him some much needed space.
