was considering a pygmy angel for a 24g nano reef system. possibly as the main host and keep him with other cleaner critters.

Mine is great, a bit of an attitude though. I don't know how they'll do in a small nano tank with other fish. when he was first introduced, him and my six line wrass went at it, they get along now. Just my experience.

My buddy had one in his nano. Did fine, but be careful with angels with LPS. I had a flame that loved acans, micros, chalices. Didn't touch softies like my toadstool and ricordea.

o man... pygmy angels promise so much, an angel thas compact. I was tempted by the half black angel, damn taht was the biggest mistake of my life. Nearly nipped all my LPS half to death. Taught my yellow tang some nasty tricks too. Good luckk

Mine had attitude & started eating all my coral...He loved tasting everything. He even killed my super male Lini-ahtice wrasse...(I know I didn't spell that right)...lol

july865: My advice would be to to place this fish in a large enough tank where it can hide...because 9 times out of 10 you'll see them and they're up to no good. The same as a six-line wrasse IMO. Very sneaky/sly fish. However, the color pattern is beautiful but you'll have to keep an eye on them. When mixing these fish, size does matter...smaller will be less aggressive than adult size.

The cherub seems to be the most coral friendly and smallest. Its always been a well behaved fish in my tanks. I like the flame backs too, they also do very well for me.

I've tried the flame, coral beauty, pygmy, flameback and a couple of others. All I can tell you is that each fish is different in it's behavior. I had a flame angel that picked at all my clams...got rid of him...Got another...and he's been fine. Also, got a Coral Beauty and he bothered nothing for a year and then it got a taste for clams....go figure.

my multicolor/possible nahacky/hybrid pygmy angel has been quite well behaved after it killed off the things it liked...mainly all my clams...my 8" maxima included.

since then, he has been an 'angel'!
