Anyone have any large snails or hermits?

Does anyone have any large snails or hermits (at least golf ball size hopefully bigger) they want sale or trade? I need some for my fish only tank and haven't had much luck finding what I am looking for locally.

We have a LFS down here in lawton that has some Zebra Turbos, a few of them he had were nearly two inches. I don't know how many of those he has left, selling them for 2.50 I think. He also has a tiger cowrie that is about 2-3", don't know the price on the cowrie, sorry.

I like the Zebra Turbos. I ordered three for a different tank awhile back (they were eaten by some my hermits). That's a good price on them. The last time I saw them around here they were $6 each.

FYI......

Be very careful of large Turbos (mine are ~2"), they can & will plug up a durso overflow pipe faster than you can yell "FLOOD"!

Yes, they will crawl over the casteling (spelling??) of the overflow and enter your Durso pipe.

I had one of my Durso pipes (drain pipe) choke with a snail in its opening. I was lucky because the second overflow took up the slack.

After this almost disaster, I purchased some of the lighting egg-crate to place over the two overflows in my tank. That should keep those buggers out of my pipes!

Oddly enough, they have some Thin Stripped Hermits at Petco. I have had them before. Mine were wild caught from the Gulf. However, they are fairly large. Also, ART had some bigger Hermits too. Not sure what type. But big red ones.

Ray, thanks for the tip. That's not a fun lesson to learn I am sure. I have strainers on my durso overflow. I also have a top over the overflow to keep the hair algae from growing in there. Only small creatures can fit now (However I sometimes find my brittle star in the overflow area. Before I covered it the overflow was nasty with hair algae.

Sounds like I need to leave Norman more often . I like those big red hermits! They have one (I think its red) at the Reef Shop. That thing is larger. It gets its own holding tank. Crystal Clear also has one (not as big as the Reef Shop's) in their large fish display tank.
