Anyone have problems using this type heater (pic)?

Anyone have problems using this type heater? I think mine is giving off an odd smell. It's made of plastic, 250w.

I just got one of those last weekend for my water change setup. It seems to work really well.

I am using one on my tank and it performs really well for me.

Others seem to not like them for some reason it has been a decent purchase in my case.

if you smell it, does that mean your heating it up out of the water? If you are, thats bad.

I have one and it is probably the best of several heaters I own. Set it at 80, you actually get 80.

i have one in my tank. what you are smelling is probably the new smell that most plastic and eletroinc items have. if you are concerned place it in a bucket of water and make sure it works. keep in mind it must be submerged before it will come on.

Thanks everyone for your input. It works great just has a funky smell to it. Supposedly its shuts off automatically when removed from water. I don't purposely test this claim though.

it is a very good heater and non breakable by fish that is why my pet store carries them. People had problems with big fish breaking other marienland heaters but not these

It's a Marineland Visa-Therm Stealth heater.
