Anyone have Ultimatefrag's Rainbow Acro? Need advice

Hi guys, I've had a frag of Ultimatefrag’s Rainbow Acropora growing for about 4 months and I'm having a really tough time getting any "rainbow" out of it. It's mostly green with a blue rim and brown polyps but I think it's supposed to have blue tips and red polyps. I dunno, it's an older piece so there aren't a lot of photos floating around of it anymore. If anyone has one, I'd love to see what yours looks like and your placement.

I have the Ultimate's Rainbow from Battlecoral. Yours look quite different from mine, but it took me over a year for it color up. I never reached 100% coloration either. It was almost fully rainbow, but then it browned out again. This coral is very finicky, I believe the vivid's rainbow is the same way. Just be more patient.

Where did you acquire yours from shlap?? I have two mini colonys one from RMF and the other from a local reefer that obtained from RMF as well. Mine has bright purple tips with greens and faint red polyps similar to Reefnubs. This coral grows well for me and isn't very hard to color up. The vivid rainbow has a close resemblance until you look at the top down and it's a super finicky coral in my tank.

@Reefnub -- thanks for posting the photo! That's a really nice piece. Seeing yours and the other few I've seen floating around, I'm thinking mine isn't the Ultimatefrag's Rainbow. Does your have a blue rim around the base?

@mylittlejade -- I got mine from a LFS who said it was from RMF. I think either they or RMF got it mixed up because my growth pattern just doesn't look like the photos I've seen.

Mine is darkened quite a bit currently with a mini crash a few months ago. Not sure how long it will take to color up. But I did replace overdue metal halide bulbs today and tomorrow the old T5's hopefully get replaced. Coloring coral up unfortunately can take a long time if you have had them get unhappy for any reason.

Watchguy. I would wait at least a week before replacing those T5s ...

That's a lot of light intensity/spectrum change over the course of 2-3 days !

You have a nice reef system, from what Ive seen here, and Id hate to see you lose any of those Acropora specimens from an often overlooked, but important practice
